Six months post-FCE, WorkWell followed up with 1,300 chronic disability cases (chronic meaning the injured had had been out of work an average of ten months). They found that 60 percent of them had safely returned to their jobs. Considering a minimal number of injured employees return to work at all after ten months, it is remarkable that WorkWell successfully aided in the return of well over half of them, three-quarters of whom were back full time in their original job.

How did they do it?  Primarily because a therapist skilled in musculoskeletal function, not the worker alone, identified the injured employee’s precise functional ability. The injured likely never had an FCE that was created using parameters defined by the job to which they were trying to return – a Functional Job Analysis, or FJA. A WorkWell therapist defined the employee’s ability/inability to perform a specific job, and therefore was able to recommend simple accommodations, return the worker to work and save employers and insurers untold expenses.

Even when it is not work-related, there is still no better supported, researched and thorough FCE anywhere. WorkWell used extensive clinical and statistical research to develop their FCE, resulting in the most scientifically accurate and outcome-oriented results available. It utilizes detailed motion/strength testing and performance of over 25 functional activities.

All of this combines to provide a legally sound document that accurately details the exact extent of any injury, as it relates to Return-to-Work or Activities of Daily Living.
