FUNCTIONAL
CAPACITY EVALUATION (FCE)
The WorkWell FCE (Functional Capacity Evaluation) used by Employment
Cost Solutions is an extremely accurate, in-depth physical evaluation
used to determine the exact extent of an injury, be it work-related
or otherwise. It is widely recognized as the gold standard of
FCEs.
A WorkWell FCE can be of particular value to a business owner
or human resources professional after an employee has been injured
on the job. It can be utilized to expedite the rehabilitation
process and/or ensure that the injured employee is truly ready
to return to work as the FCE ensures a match between the injured
employees physical abilities and the critical demands of their
job. Additionally, a shortened version of the FCE used
in conjunction with a modified pre-work screen may make it possible
for the employee to return to work more rapidly, possibly while
still undergoing rehabilitation.
A WorkWell study found that 60 percent of employees suffering
chronic injuries who were given a WorkWell FCE returned safely
and effectively to the very job that injured them. Typically
those chronically injured employees would never return to work;
they would receive a settlement at the expense of their employer
and insurer.
| The process is fairly
simple: |
- ECS can perform the FCE on-site, at
our clinic or almost anywhere else that is convenient
to you.
- There are two traditional versions of
the FCE, both are probably more affordable than you expect
and both are far more affordable than a settlement or extended
rehab.
- One version takes approximately four hours
over the course of a day. The other takes eight hours over
two days. Both versions include detailed motion/strength
tests and the performance of more than 25 functional activities.
- The truth is, most workers don't like
our FCE, it is designed to push their limits (safely, of
course) to determine the full extent of their remaining
ability. It is more thorough than any other FCE on the
market, and as a result derives more in-depth and accurate
information than can be gathered via any other method.
