Travel anywhere in Iowa?
ECS uses facilities across Iowa to perform our FCEs. We can
provide FCEs in the Quad Cities and Omaha and we can
find other X-RTS providers in 35 states (as of May 2011). We
charge no additional fee should we need to travel to meet
your claimant.
Schedule the appointment and find a venue?
ECS is here to make every aspect of an FCE easier on you. We find a facility as close to your claimant as possible and,
if legally allowed, we’ll even call the claimant to schedule.
Perform the FCE in less than three weeks?
ECS can always get an FCE done in less than three weeks but
sometimes you need an FCE even sooner, if so, we can almost
always accommodate you – always without a “rush surcharge.”

Deliver a tailored FCE report within 72 hours… to multiple recipients?
You shouldn’t have to take
time from your day
to distribute our FCE
report to physicians,
adjusters, case
managers or
attorneys. Just tell
ECS who should get
copies and we’ll send
them (fax, email or
hardcopy) at our
expense within three
business days of the
FCE’s completion.
Only charge for what you need?
We can charge a flat fee, but in the end, you pay more.
With very rare exceptions, a viable and thorough FCE does
not require more than four hours, so we will discuss with
you a streamlined approach wherein we provide a specific
and more appropriate variation on the standard FCE if you
desire.
Keep you and the claimant updated?
The assessing therapist, as well as our lead therapist, are
available to talk directly with anyone related to a claim at
any point in the process. Also, after scheduling the FCE we
call or email whoever appropriate with every relevant detail
– including a letter and driving directions (when allowed)
directly to each FCE participant.
When the FCE is complete, we call or email again to
convey our initial findings and discuss with you the best
subsequent steps.

Objectivity |

Be Completely Objective?
We focus on evaluative services, FCEs specifically, because
it makes for a more convenient and cost-effective service.
But, perhaps most importantly, it means you get an
objective FCE. ECS is the only purely objective provider of
FCEs in Iowa.
Eliminate concerns about questionable
recommendations?
Because we do not offer any therapy services we have no
incentive in recommending additional rehabilitation when
not appropriate. Conversely, we don’t have to “prove” our
rehab was effective by proclaiming a patient is ready to
return to work before their time.
Never be “too close” to the patient?
A treating clinician’s familiarity (be it friendly, adversarial or
completely professional) with a patient via rehabilitation will
lead to presumption about the patient’s ability. This adds a
level of bias to an FCE meaning objectivity is non-existent.
Control your costs?
ECS is active in nearly every provider network. If you use a
bill review service, in all likelihood there will be a discount
on our FCEs. If we’re not active in a network you use, let us
know, we’ll do everything we can to get in their group.

Use best qualities from the “classic” FCE systems?
Outdated “classic” protocols fail to objectively measure
effort during an FCE in any quantifiable way, but they can
provide valuable information assuming the claimant’s effort is
objectively measured during the FCE (this is what X-RTS does).
Therefore, ECS uses the best aspects from a variety of protocols
to provide the same basic information physicians, attorneys and
treating therapists have come to expect. The difference is those
findings are arrived at objectively via the X-RTS system.
Change the very nature
of FCEs with X-RTS?
The
fundamental
problem with traditional FCEs is that
therapists, no matter their level of
experience, CANNOT accurately or
objectively measure a claimant’s effort
during FCE testing.
It is very simple: X-RTS measures effort
conclusively and in a way that is legally
defensible. |
